We are a self-administered real estate investment trust, headquartered in Long Beach, California, with offices in Chicago, Nashville and San Francisco. We acquire, develop, lease, sell and manage healthcare real estate and provide mortgage and other financing to healthcare providers. Our portfolio includes investments in the following healthcare segments: (i) senior housing; (ii) life science; (iii) medical office; (iv) hospital; and (v) skilled nursing.
The healthcare industry is the single largest industry in the United States based on Gross Domestic Product (GDP). According to the National Health Expenditures report released in January 2009 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the healthcare industry is projected to represent 17.7% of U.S. GDP in 2010.
